Grants for groups

We run a range of grants programmes for community groups and charities in Wiltshire and Swindon including several managed on behalf of other funders

Our grants support projects that improve people’s lives Wiltshire and Swindon. We focus on supporting grassroots and small to medium-sized organisations that are working with people on low incomes. A full list of our current grant programmes is below.

Targeting Health Inequalities

Grants of up to £10,000 are available for registered groups to work with communities from Trowbridge, Melksham, Chippenham and Salisbury.

We are working in partnership with the NHS Integrated Care Board’s Health Inequalities Fund (Wiltshire) to deliver a new grants programme for projects which help people overcome barriers to healthier lives, improving physical and/or mental wellbeing and showing how local community projects make a difference to health outcomes.

Community Grants

Grants of up to £5,000 per year for up to three years

Our community grants programme supports projects  that improve people's lives in Wiltshire and Swindon. We prioritise applications from grassroots and small to medium-sized organisations that are working with people on low incomes.

Wessex Water Foundation Environment Fund

Grants of up to £2,000

This programme supports charitable and community activities that improve local biodiversity or have a positive impact on the local environment for local people.

Funding is available to local organisations in the Wessex Water area.

Heritage and Nature Grants

Our Heritage and Nature programme funds work that will preserve land or buildings of beauty or historic interest, including the preservation of animals and plant life, in Wiltshire. Each year, the Foundation will make two or three small grants (usually between £5,000 - £15,000) or one larger grant (usually £20,000 - £25,000).

We are not currently seeking new applications to this programme until April 2026. However, if your organisation is responsible for conserving an eligible natural space or heritage building which requires funding over the long term you may wish to register an interest here so we can contact you nearer the time.

Science Museum Group Wroughton Solar Park Sustainable Futures Grants

Grants of up to £20,000

This programme supports charitable and community activities that focus on science, technology, engineering, maths and the environment such as renewable energy, ecology or habitat conservation.

Science Museum Group Wroughton Solar Park Supporting Communities Grants

Grants of up to £2,500

This programme supports projects which will improve the lives of people living in the parish areas of: Wroughton, Chiseldon, Clyffe Pypard, Broad Town, Broad Hinton, Ogbourne St George, Ogbourne St Andrew, Aldbourne and Baydon.

Wessex Water Foundation Community Fund

Grants of up to £4,000

The  Wessex Water Foundation Community Fund  supports charitable and community activities that aim to improve the lives of local people by building stronger communities and bringing communities together.

Energy, Food and Community Support Fund

We are working in partnership with Wiltshire Council to help deliver part of the county’s allocation of the Government Household Support Fund which has been allocated to councils in England by the Department for Work and Pensions.

This programme is now closed for applications but please contact the Grants Team if your organisation has a project that fits within the scope of the fund to discuss potential funding options.

Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Action Fund Grants

Grants of up to £5,000

The Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Action Fund Grants support voluntary groups to deliver activities in line with priorities 2, 3 and 4 of the Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Plan 2022-25.

Older People's Programme

Grants of between £1,000 and £5,000 per year for one or two years.

The aim of this programme is to support older people to be independent, healthy and socially included.

The Welcome Programme will help local voluntary sector and community groups to deliver a range of assistance and practical activities to support resettlement, community cohesion and help build futures for refugees and asylum seekers in our communities.

Grants of up to £3,000

This programme supports local charities and voluntary organisations based in, or whose work substantially benefits, the people of Haydon Wick and its immediate area.

High Sheriff Awards

Grants of up to £3,000

The programme supports projects which bring communities together to tackle local issues. Applications are expected to focus on one or more of the following areas: anti-social behaviour, crime in local neighbourhoods, drug and alcohol-related crime, reducing re-offending, violence against women and girls or youth crime.

Wessex Water Chippenham Community Connectors Fund

The aim of this fund is to support new projects in Chippenham throughout 2023 and 2024 to co-produce solutions to the issues identified as important to local people and Wessex Water. We want to work in partnership with the community to make the changes needed.
