Local Insight

The data platform for Wiltshire and Swindon

Easy access to local data

Wiltshire Community Foundation is proud to be collaborating with OCSI (Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion) to provide Local Insight as a new resource available to anyone keen to understand more about the needs of local people and places.

We strive to use our insight, community knowledge and connections to target our support where it’s needed most, a key element of our work is to help raise awareness and increase understanding of the local needs and the issues that affect our local communities. Our Local Insight platform can help you understand local needs in your area, help you review and develop your services to meet local priorities and provide data to help improve your funding bids.

Local Insight is easy to use and intuitive so you don’t need to be a statistician to gain useful insights. It enables local charities, community groups, donors, anyone interested in exploring local data the chance to explore data about the area you work in, data is available on themes such as population, health, inequality, employment, the economy and many more. It is a powerful tool, it brings together more than 1,500 regularly updated neighbourhood level indicators across a number of different themes, ready to explore through interactive maps, reports and dashboards.

"Local Insight’s reports have been hugely valuable to our work in Bemerton Heath. It's given us up to date data on some of the challenges and strengths of our community which we've then been able to show to funders to help demonstrate the need and what we are doing to help address it.

"It's also been a helpful team reflection tool, as we compare the insights data with what we are seeing on the ground and reflect on how we should work as a result of this." - Rise61 Salisbury

Use Local Insight to support your funding applications and strategic planning

Most funders are keen to understand how the work you are undertaking is responding to local need and priorities, using data from Local Insight helps to tell the story of your place, and in turn why the work of your organisation or project is needed. Using a tool like Local Insight has the potential to help improve your success in funding applications.

Data from Local Insight can also help you review your services and inform planning for future activities, helping you consider what’s needed most and where.
